catechism

About this collection

The St. John's Catechism in Sound Filmstrip is an audio-visual presentation aid for teaching the Baltimore Catechism to grade-school students, created by St. John's University.

Units 1-30 were produced from 1951 through 1960. Two additional units (Unit 14 Supplements I and II - Vatican II edition) were produced in 1965. Each audio recording was made on 33 1/3 RMP vinyl records, with a lesson plan on the back of the album cover and a film strip reel that would be played simultaneously, advanced manually when a "beep" sound was heard every few seconds. Currently, only the lesson plans and the audio recordings are available online.
